I WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTE. I wrote and I wrote and I wrote! And now there are 50,025 words of story about Mort and James and their nieces and nephews. And I am exhausted. *g*

And the next thing I have to do - which I so, so hoped I would not have to do, and I am Not Doing Yet - is rewrite the whole fricasseein' thing by hand to get the pacing right, make sure I'm fixing everything I jossed and didn't cut, and get the current proper shape of the story set in my head. THEN I have to research every single bit of it to pieces and rewrite each scene an average of six times for proper awesomeness. Also there are scenes that don't even exist yet because Mort is bullheaded and won't tell me what goes on *ahem* I'm having some, er, "creative differences" with one of my characters.

(Seriously, though, I love this. I've been using Word's comments feature to make marginal notes about stuff without artificially inflating my wordcount, and earlier today I caught myself using one of those to assure Mort that if some of these scenes don't get less embarrassing we can ditch the entire story without showing anybody, if we want to. And then I stopped and went "Wait, I'm telling a fictional character we can ditch his story as if that's a GOOD thing?" And then I realized... and I know I sound like I'm bragging insanely here; forgive me, I'm slightly over-the-moon *g*... that, you know what? It really doesn't matter, on a certain level, if one single word of these 50,025 makes it to publication. I've created a thing. I've created people with a story of their own, and personalities that I didn't just cobble together out of spare parts. They live in my head now. If there really is, anywhere in the universe, a place like Niggle's Parish wherein we can meet our sub-created stories as we wanted them to be and not as we made them, I know James and Mort are there. And that's... a mind-boggling and humbling thing. Also EPICNESS OF EPIC. ^______^)

Also: PARTAY!!!!! I am just a little bit too frazzled to fetch Tuxodo (sorry, tuxedo!Odo) over here from my LJ scrapbook, and I am going to bed now, but PARTY TIEM. Drinks for everyone! Or whatever.

*falls over whump* ;-)

Way to go w00t! (As mentioned in other comment.) Darn tootin' it doesn't matter if it's ever published. It doesn't matter if it's publishable. You cracked the 50k barrier for the first time: now you know that you can do it. That's what the *WriMo thing is for.

Congratulations! It's a marvelous achievement! And I really want to read about your characters, so when you've taken a deep breath, get on revising ;)
