A quick meme

From [personal profile] pitry: Go look at your journal. Find the last fandom-related thing you posted. The characters in that post are now your team-mates in the Zombie Apocalypse. How much trouble are you in?

Mine are the Monkees. My initial thought was "I'm dead", but on consideration... if I'm on the show, the zombie apocalypse probably consists of running around bopping zombies on the head to a hit tune and ends with making friends with them and having a marshmallow roast or something. Very like the Gilligan's Island zombie apocalypse, really. ;-)

(Is it bad that I am now trying to pick which Monkees song should be made into a zombie apocalypse fanvid? *g* Or, as I can't vid, a songfic. o_O Some part of me wants to go back to my roots and write silly zombie apocalypse fic for many of my fandoms now.)

On another, completely irrelevant note: the 1974 taped-from-stage version of King Lear with James Earl Jones is quite good so far. I'm only an hour through it (yay Netflix streaming), but it's making a heck of a lot more sense than reading the written play - which is usually Not The Case with me.

Also the B-plot has a very young René Auberjonois in it. Is there a "predictable" mood choice? ;P

I love that I get Sam and Janet for the zombie apocalypse. I would be in precisely zero trouble of any kind.

Oh. Em. Gee. Rene as Edgar! Rene as Edgar. I had no idea. How sweet he would be. And Raul Julia as Edmund! What! Weird and amazing. But I have some... trouble picturing Paul Sorvino as Gloucester. Erm. Hmm. (Lear is my very favorite, by the way. So much love for that impossible, impossible play.)

I don't know Paul Sorvino from anything else, but he was quite good, I thought. ('Course, my standards of "good" in Shakespeare performance are pretty low; if I can understand what you're saying and you seem to have some idea what you're trying to say, you're above average. *g* I have sat through some BAD Shakespeare tapes for school.)

Raul Julia was quite epic as Edmund, and Rene was - in my cheerfully prejudiced opinion ;-) - indeed adorable. (Also mostly nekkid half the time, to which I have no objection at all. *g* And he did some rather awesome voice-switching.) And of course James Earl Jones was very good; and the guy who played Kent did a brilliant job (though I am again prejudiced because Kent rocks anyway. *g*) All in all, I'd say this version is well worth watching.

My favorite Shakespeare play is Macbeth, but I'm in a hurry to get off my dad's computer, or I would love to discuss Shakespeare with anybody</i> you at more length... *g*

If you fight zombies with the Monkees, they need to be pink and fluffy and adorable!

No? :(

That sounds so cool! The only Lear I've seen was the recent Ian McKellan one (and an outside stage version aborted in the first scene because it started monsooning). I'd love to see that; so much geeky wonderfulness!
